MIDWAY, KY–CHAMPALI, the very quick multiple Graded stakes winner, will retire to Glencrest Farm for the 2005 season. A son of Glitterman out of the Dixieland Band mare Radioactivity, CHAMPALI is now being syndicated, and will stand for $7,500 live foal.

CHAMPALI was on the board 19 times in 22 starts over three seasons, winning 11 races, eight stakes, for owners Lloyd Madison Farms IV LLL and trainer Greg Foley. CHAMPALI posted three straight wins to open his career at two, including the Iroquois S.-G3 at Churchill Downs, and won three straight to start his three year old season, including two stakes. This year, at four, he racked up four stakes wins, led by the $500,000 Smile Sprint H.-G3 at Calder, $250,000 Phoenix Breeders’ Cup S.-G3 at Keeneland, and $150,000 Aristides Breeders’ Cup H.-G3 at Churchill. He was beaten just 3 ½ lengths in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint-G1, and retires with a record of 22-11-2-4, $1,073,794.

Glencrest spokesman David Greathouse said the farm was delighted to have the opportunity to stand CHAMPALI, "a horse with such terrific talent and a great following. We have watched CHAMPALI for three years, and he always turns in a great performance. When you look at racing nationwide, there are just not a lot of horses who show up often and deliver that knockout punch. CHAMPALI was such a horse, a top two-year-old, three-year-old, and four-year-old, who won from 5 ½ furlongs to 1 1/16 miles. He is one of the top-ranked sprinters, and has some of the best sprint Beyer Numbers this year, including a 113, and he retired sound. We expect he will be very popular with breeders."
